The following document is the foundational seed of the NationLink organization. It was written by Jim Zimmerman with contribution from many others. This seed document shall serve as the foundation and map to guide the NationLink Founding Members and Board in creating the official NationLink Charter.

We Are Motivated

We are at a historic crossroads as a nation and world, yet our country is stuck in partisan gridlock - we must break free from this disastrous paralysis!

Essential Fact: our world is as equally filled with opportunity as it is with peril – we are poised at a historic moment, a crossroads, a point of both unprecedented human potential and profound challenges.

In all areas of science and technology we are mastering our world, releasing incomprehensible potential for what the future can and might be.

The opportunity for human achievement and success has never been greater; it is virtually without limit. The great news is we do now have the option to create a positive and desirable future of our choosing.

Just as true: alarmingly so, as a Nation and a World we face enormous issues and challenges; issues that must be addressed with clarity, knowledge, positive action and wisdom.

The Divide Deepens
As a nation, we are unfortunately stuck in a dangerous state of partisan gridlock. As the critical nature of our issues increase, the depth of the political divide intensifies.

Our current state of embattled, nearly all consuming deadlock – right, left, democrat, republican, liberal, conservative, is absolutely not what we need to be doing as a nation. If this state of near partisan warfare continues, the results are likely to be tragic.

We Have a Plan
We propose the American people take a time-out from this dangerous state of partisan warfare that has us divided as a Nation; divided when we need to be united as one!

There is now a great need to come together as a nation; as citizens of our great country, we have the obligation to do so with a sense of duty, urgency and integrity.

We offer a well-conceived Plan, and associated technology, to democratically link together Americans, with a clear purpose of intelligently and constructively creating a United Vision and Action Plan for our Nation - and then implementing it!

I-CAP
To fully grasp the potential for success of the NationLink Plan, we will begin with I-CAP– our Internet Collaborative Action Platform.

I-CAP is an Internet system optimized to conduct multi-level, real-time and non real-time meetings, focused discussions and group decision-making using a structured, user-friendly and even fun Web interface.

I-CAP comprehensively facilitates online meetings, discussions, informational presentations and decision-making based on pre-determined organizational objectives, principles and procedures. Additionally, individual participation is based on assigned and even elected organizational roles.

I-CAP will be used to conduct the operations of NationLink...

Global Resources Database: NationLink Members will have online access to an ever expanding database of Global Resources created by “expert” participants in NationLink. This Global Resources Database will be an important and strategic component of I-CAP.

The Global Resources Database will be a wide-ranging, non-biased and very user-friendly inventory of the World’s strategic resources (actual and potential):

• Energy Sources (Like: natural gas, solar, nuclear, bio-mass, efficiency…)
• Natural Resources (Like: soil, minerals, wood)
• Technology and Production (Like: processes for production, in-place factories, labs…)
• Human Knowledge, Know-How, and Capacity (Like: scientists, technician, managers, skilled labor, unskilled labor…)

VISION – Sustainable Prosperity
Based on creative, intelligent and energetic use of democracy, technology, human know-how, and effort, the Earth can support a future that is economically, personally and widely prosperous and at the same time, environmentally and socially sustainable.

MISSION – National Unity:
Democratically link together millions of Americans to intelligently and constructively create a United Vision and Action Plan for our Nation, rooted in our Vision - and then successfully implement it!

FOUNDATION OF COMMON SENSE – The Seven Guiding Principles .
To provide guidance and support to the Vision and Mission NationLink we are creating an overarching direction, beliefs and national objectives in the form of Seven Guiding Principles.

The following is a list of the Seven Guiding Principles. These Principles will be refined and enhanced by the Founding Board and Crew Members during Phase I - this process described below in the Phase I Section.

THREE PHASE MASTER PLAN
Overview of phase concept

Charter Phase I - Refinements and Completion of the Founding Charter
The overarching focus of Phase I is to create a solid foundation in terms of direction, planning and membership. The quality of the accomplishments of Phase I will serve as the bedrock to build from as NationLink moves forward. The following are the primary areas of focus with associated objectives.

Founding Members: We are seeking just 2,000 diverse individuals to serve as Founding Members of NationLink. Our intention is to get recruit a targeted cross section of uniquely experienced and talented people that together synergistically merge into a very representative and capable team of Founders.

A major focus, though not exclusively so, are Universities and Colleges for recruitment of Founding Members. Why...

Founding Members will both sign up and be selected. There areas of responsibility will include making suggestions and in discussions concerning the drafting of the NationLink Charter. They will also vote to ratify he NationLink Charter with an 80% approval required for ratification. Election of the a new NationLink Board for Phase II to include the option to run for a Board position.

There are a number of benefits to this early stage participation as a Founding Member: the privilege and honor of participation in the historic authorship, networking with other Members, potential DWG ownership and positioning for future leadership and staff positions in NationLink.

Founding Board: From the base of 2,000 Founding Members the Dot World Group will seek and select 20 individuals, plus Jim Zimmerman to serve on the Founding Board. The Founding Board is appointed and temporary. Prior to the start of Phase II and after the ratification of the NationLink Charter a new Board will be elected by the 2,000 Founding Members.

Founding Board Members will be recruited and selected from a diverse background, Board Members will be selected for a variety of reasons: expertise in one or more of the Seven Guiding Principles, expertise in organizational and legal structure, expertise in collaborative Web platforms, outstanding and relevant national stature and accomplishments, local stature and accomplishments and passionate dedication to the Vision and Mission of NationLink.

While Founding Board Members will be required to be one of the 2,000 Founding Members, they will also be targeted and selectively recruited for participation on the Founding Board using pre-established recruitment criteria.

Founding Board positions will be compensated with stipends derived from Founding Membership fees.

The primary objective of the Founding Board is to write, based on this seed document, the NationLink Charter and win ratification by the Founding Members.

There are a number of benefits to this early stage participation as a Founding Board Member: the privilege and honor of historic authorship, networking with other Members, potential DWG ownership, stipend compensation and positioning for future leadership roles in NationLink .

Global Resource Database: In Phase I the Web system and process will be setup and resources will begin to be added. This will expand into Phase II becoming a unique and comprehensive resource and tool for planning and making intelligent decisions concerning the quality of our future.
